Suavecito Matte Pomade Review

Suavecito features a vast collection of men’s grooming and fashion products. Having its presence across North America, the company has grown manifolds over the past several years. Matte Pomade is among the latest products offered by Suavecito. It has been advertised as a durable medium hold bestowing a healthy matte finish. Although categorized under Pomade, it appears more like a paste. Let’s take a look at things we like and dislike about this product.

Our First Impressions

You will be impressed by the jar design, which borrows the usual layout of the other products. However, the thing that makes it distinct and appealing is its bright green accent giving it a different appearance.

The moment you open the jar, the cola-cologne scent fills the space, and you surely will love it.

How does it feel when you apply it?

Comprising mainly of a mix of cocoa butter and alcohol, the product may sometimes appear improperly emulsified. Despite its appearance of as if both the ingredients are separated, there is no need to panic. Stir them together using your finger and then scoop. Scooping is quite easy, and you won’t need to stir it again and again to scoop.

We recommend applying the scoop on damp hair as it doesn’t grip well on dry hair.

How easy is it to style your hair using the matte Pomade?

The process is like any other styling cream. You will be happy to use it for styling your hair daily. Simple steps for styling your hair would be:

  1. Take out a dime scoop
  2. Dry your hair and apply the scoop from the root to the tip
  3. Use a blower on medium heat to hit the hair and shape it as per your choice
  4. Follow this by brushing your hair in your preferred direction
  5. Lastly, take out two small scoops to lock your style and get a secure hold

How good or bad is Matte Pomade?

Let’s rate it on different parameters to understand how good is this product for you.

Styling

When applied well, the hair holds the style for hours without being disturbed. We would give it 3/5 for its styling performance.

Hold

Again, we would give it 4/5 for the control it offers. With time the matte paste dries, and the hair stiffens. The hold is medium and offers you a weightless feeling. While it holds straight hairs for considerable hours, it is not the case with wavy-haired people.

After an hour or so, wavy-hairs get back to their natural hair movement. In case you apply the matte on a blow-dried or dry hair, it might take more time to stiffen than using on damp hair.

Endurance

The hold wanes during the day while the matte settles down. Eventually, it shifts the hold from Pomade-like hold to a paste form, which is why it gets a score of 2/5.

Matte

It is mated which is why we give it 3/5. Although it is debatable if the finish is healthy or not. On some people, hair might appear dull and intentionally styled.

Dryness

Once applied, the Matte Pomade gets dry in a couple of hours. Hence it becomes challenging to restyle it fully. This gives it a rating of 2/5.

Texture

The controlled-frizz look of your hair is thanks to the nice fine texture after applying the product on your hair. As time passes, the texture degrades, which is why we give it a 3/5 rating.

FAQ

Is Matte Pomade good for my hair?

Suavecito Pomades are well-known for their quality. Matte Pomade by the company offers a clean and shiny finish. Long-term usage doesn’t harm your hair like its not a gel-based product.

Should I leave Matte Pomade overnight?

No, you should not leave it on your hair when sleeping. It might harm the quality of hair and the skin beneath.

Is Matte Pomade better than applying gel?

Pomades, as we know, are flake-free alternatives to gel. Matte Pomade is an alcohol-based product that doesn’t harden your hair in the long run. Hence, it’s much better than applying gels to style your hair and still have the best hairstyles.

Can I apply Matte Pomade daily?

Being a water-based pomade, it is less likely to damage your hair. You have to follow the standard application process of applying it correctly on your hair and not the scalp. If you manage to do so, it won’t damage your scalp.

Never scrape the brush on your scalp and make sure you wipe off the excess Pomade from the hairline once you are done with styling your hair.

Concluding Remarks

When choosing the best hair product, it all depends on your choices. For people who like to have a messy natural look, Matte Pomade is the perfect product to try. However, if, after a few applications, you feel it’s not giving you an ideal look, you might move to other products.

But in most cases, especially with straight hairs, Matt Pomade works well, offering a clean-cut slick back or parted hairstyle. The hair shines, and the original hold stays in place for considerable hours. Overall, this product is excellent to style your hair and ensure no damage is done in the long run.
